“An entire era in modern Bulgarian history has ended. I am not saying that the next one will be brighter, but certainly from this one, at least I personally sighed with satisfaction“. Thus, sociologist and international analyst Ivo Hristov commented on the results of the elections for the 52nd National Assembly in the program “Face to Face“ on bTV.

According to him, the disappearance of the BSP from parliament is a “sad farewell“ to the only party that, according to him, had all the signs of a real political organization – ideology, structure and stable supporters.

According to him, the decline of the BSP did not begin yesterday, but the last leaders simply accelerated the process.

He sharply criticized the attempts to shift the blame for the election result onto the new leadership in the person of Krum Zarkov, stating: “The impudence knows no bounds.“

Regarding the election result and the strong performance of Rumen Radev, Hristov defined it as an expression of deep public dissatisfaction.

“This is the last desperate cry of the Bulgarians that they do not want to live this way“, believes Hristov.

According to him, many people have seen in Radev “their personification“, but he warned that “a huge, monstrous responsibility“ falls on him.

“It is not "The power of even one such person to reverse gravity. I hope that at least it will provide us with a soft landing," commented Hristov.

Regarding the international reactions to Rumen Radev's victory, the sociologist described the criticisms as "primitive", emphasizing that the new political course will probably be more pragmatic.

According to him, the main priority should remain the "Bulgarian national interest", formulated as the need for the country to defend its positions with more self-confidence on the international stage.
