In early November, we should have a new Supreme Judicial Council elected. This was announced to NOVA by the chairman of the Progressive Bulgaria PG, Petar Vitanov.
According to him, autumn will be key for the country. “We have foreseen many things. Perhaps the most important thing is the beginning of the notorious judicial reform, which has been a sticking point for many political parties for more than decades,” said Vitanov.

“All political parties have united around adopting rules for electing members of the Supreme Judicial Council. But this is only the first step. Ultimately, we come to the people. We are currently selecting people for the Supreme Judicial Council to launch the notorious judicial reform and subsequently elect the “big three” - the prosecutor general and the chairmen of the two supreme courts”, explained Vitanov.
Regarding the budget, he announced that changes are planned. “For example, with the notorious concessions. We intend to make a change to the Law on Subsoil Resources. We are already ready with the analysis. In Bulgaria, companies from the extractive industry pay much less than they pay in Europe. We want to make some comparison and equalize these concession fees, which in our opinion harm the state and all of us as a society”, Vitanov emphasized.

There will be changes in healthcare to prevent abuses. Optimization and reform in the state administration are also planned. Among them is a reduction in the number of members on the boards of public enterprises and a reduction in their remuneration. “The state administration is obviously working inefficiently. In many places there are bodies that have duplicate functions”, believes the chairman of the PG of ”Progressive Bulgaria”.

He does not accept criticism of the government, especially with regard to foreign policy. ”Every state is obliged to pursue a multi-vector policy”, said Vitanov.
