The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works) has started the construction and repair of 145 km. highway sections and main republican roads. This happened between the inauguration of the caretaker government and the end of June.

This was announced by the press center of the MRRB.

The department states that in less than three months, work has been resumed in all important directions and all priority sectors in the department of MRRD.

At the beginning of June, a construction permit was issued and the modernization of more than 40 km of the route from Ruzhintsi to the ring road of Montana, part of the expressway with highway sections Vidin - Botevgrad, is about to begin. A new road junction will also be built for the connection with the bypass.

MRRB notes that a new 600-meter section of the "Struma" highway is being built. near the town of Simitli - from the highway to the junction for Bansko from the place where it now ends and the traffic turns into a two-lane road.

Minister Koritarova's team also started the basic repair of 66 km of the third-class road through the Dyulin Pass between Varna and Burgas regions. The section is important for the Black Sea because it is an alternative route of the Sunny Beach - Obzor and Daskotna - Aytos roads through the Ayto Pass.

The main repair of 21.4 km of the Rosen - Yasna Polyana road, which duplicates the II-99 road in the section from Burgas to Primorsko and is shorter by 5.5 km, has also started. MRRB points out that repairs have started on 15.7 km of the third-class Madrets - Galabovo road, which has not been repaired until now.

The regional ministry notes that the construction permit has already been issued and

in the month of July, the main repair of "Danube Bridge 1" near Rousse.

The facility is in a critical state of emergency, which poses a real danger to those passing through it. The renovation worth BGN 45 million from the budget will last for 2 years, taking measures not to significantly impede traffic.

Steps have also been taken to create a working group with the participation of the responsible institutions, which will prepare a schedule with the activities and deadlines for the realization of the project for the tunnel under Mount Shipka. The term for designing the facility is eight months. Construction will last about three and a half years. The construction of five tunnels with a total length of 4 km, 6 bridges, 1 underpass, etc. is planned.

MRRB clarifies that the repair of the tunnels along the "Hemus" AM will be completed in July, so that it can be traveled without difficulty during the active summer season.

The regional ministry points out that one of the key tasks before it was the restoration of road maintenance work. The department clarifies that, due to lack of contracts, only emergency repairs have been carried out in the past three years. According to MRRB, the design and modernization of the republican road infrastructure is important for achieving economic stability and improving the living conditions of citizens. The work on construction and repair of the infrastructure should not be used for the realization of political goals, the department adds.

The regional ministry points out that progress has also been made on the important water supply project for the village of Brestovitsa, which has had a problem with access to quality drinking water for years. Financing was provided for the reconstruction of a 4,917 m long water supply pipeline from "Bulgarian Water and Sewerage Holding". EAD, which provided an investment loan worth BGN 2,225,000 excluding VAT to ViK-Plovdiv. With this repair, the long-standing crisis of supplying water with the necessary drinking qualities to the inhabitants of the village will be permanently resolved.

Regarding an investment program for municipal projects, the regional ministry indicates that work continues. Advance payments in the amount of BGN 54 million have already been made. In the first days of July, another 200 agreements with municipalities are ready to be signed.

MRRD assures that active work is also being done on the program for a just transition in the coal regions.

The application has started under the procedure "Support for sustainable energy renovation of multi-family residential buildings, including addressing energy poverty". under Priority 4 "Just transition" of "Regional Development" 2021-2027. According to the measure, nearly BGN 200 million will be invested in energy efficiency of multi-family residential buildings in populated areas.

Candidacy will continue until September 19 this year. Nearly BGN 1 billion from the program will be directed by the end of the year to support the just transition in the coal regions of Bulgaria - the districts of Pernik, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora and 10 more municipalities connected to the Mariska basin: Nova Zagora, Yambol, Simeonovgrad, Harmanli, Topolovgrad, Dimitrovgrad, Haskovo, Elhovo, Sliven and Tundzha.

At the same time, the conclusion of contracts for the rehabilitation of the blocks under stage 1 of the measure for energy efficiency of multi-family residential buildings, financed by the National Environmental Protection Agency, continues. To date, 38 grant contracts have been concluded for a total of BGN 51 million. Decisions have been issued to provide funds for another 13 project proposals.

In the area of construction control, about 6,200 construction inspections were carried out by DNSK

and of construction documents to establish the legality of the issued construction documents, the completed construction and use. More than 820 constructions have been put into operation, for which state acceptance commissions have been held and permits for use have been issued.

The purchase of information and communication equipment is being prepared, which will guarantee the safe functioning of all systems and stored data in the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, which are an object of national importance and are an important part of national security. A public procurement is underway for updating specialized maps and registers of sea beaches; coastal lakes, lagoons, estuaries and wetlands adjacent to the sea; sand dunes and islands, including those created as a result of human activity.

In its report, the MRRB states that the public consultations on the project to amend and supplement the Roads Act, which introduces the requirements of a European directive into Bulgarian legislation, have also begun.
