The fight against the fire in Yambolsko and Sredna Gora continues

Military with heavy chain equipment will be involved in extinguishing the fire between the villages of Melnitsa and Granitovo in Elhovo

Firefighting continues between the villages of Melnitsa and Granitovo in Elhovo.

Military personnel with heavy chain equipment will be involved in extinguishing the fire today, BNR reported.

The night passed peacefully in the two border villages, announced the mayor of Melnitsa, Stefan Peev.

"Despite the large extent of the fire, I can say that people are calm, as it is far from the village of Melnitsa.

The fire was contained last night, but firefighters remained in the area throughout the night. The fire broke out in the early afternoon yesterday and briefly engulfed more than 1,000 acres of dry grass and brush. According to Stefan Peev, the cause of the fire was:

"Categorically human negligence and this is due to the negligence or criminal act of the people traveling to the customs office, because yesterday and the day before yesterday the fire started right from the road to the customs office "Lesovo".

Following a request made by the regional governor of Yambol, Nikolay Kostadinov, military personnel and equipment will be involved in extinguishing the fire today to make earthen strips to limit the spread of the fire.

The fight against the fires in Sredna Gora continues, because of which a partial state of emergency was declared yesterday in the municipalities of Hisarya and Kaloyanovo.

The fire near the villages of Sarnegor and Otets Paisievo was extinguished, but the difficult terrain hampered the work of firefighters in the area of the villages of Michaltsi and Pesnopoi.

Volunteers, in addition to firefighters and military personnel, will also be involved in controlling the fire, which is on a large area.

Heavy equipment is also on site, with which clearings will be made, our correspondent Kremena Daneva reported.

A partial state of emergency due to fires was also announced yesterday in the municipalities of Ivaylovgrad and Topolovgrad.

It is also reported that more than 10 houses were burned in the village of Gornoseltsi due to a forest fire.

A fire also broke out near the village of Studena in Svilengrad, as well as near the border village of Prekolnitsa in Kyustendil, where the flames spread to a ravine that was difficult to access.
