After the last elections, we became the second political power. Last year, Peevski brought DPS out of isolation and the party sat down at the table with the major parties. Peevski made her a factor. This is what the deputy of the movement Yordan Tsonev said on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria” in comment on the division in the formation.
When asked whether the chairman of the DPS is preparing to create a new party, Tsonev replied that at the moment they are concentrating on where the DPS will go next. “There have been no such talks at this stage”, added Tsonev.
„You won't hear me say a bad word about Dogan. Just because I didn't support him in his decision to request resignations doesn't mean I'm against him. I was his deputy for 20 years, Tsonev also commented. And he added that there is no explanation why the conflict started in this way.
According to him, Peevski is currently fighting a battle against “the people the people don't want, against the apparatus that is tired of the people".
„Let's distinguish Dogan from the people who are currently around him. If over the years they have been getting rich on the back of the DPS, if there is any evidence of that, let everyone know. Sometimes leaders listen to certain people who don't speak well to them," the MP added.
He was adamant that there is no coup in the party. "It is not a coup when the legitimately elected leadership implements its decisions," Tsonev explained. And he added that according to the party's Charter, only the Conference that elected the chairman can remove him from the post.
"If Peevski is meant to clear the field, he will clear it," added Tsonev.
„We would like to give DPS the opportunity to develop as a major party. “There is no going back” it sounds like “we will not change”. We will remain a small, more ethnic party rather than a large, electorally dissolved party that will be of great importance to the country, he also said.
„All politicians have reputational problems. If we didn't have it, the political process wouldn't be in crisis," said Tsonev. He noted that he has been part of the party for 25 years. "I have always believed that the cause of Dogan's life and work is togetherness, as well as of all of us who follow him,", he concluded.
