According to Kiril Petkov, the main reason for the situation with the fires in the country is the lack of organization and coordination. The co-chairman of "We continue the change" and one of the leaders in the formation "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) made an entry into the parliament, broadcast by BTA.
He pointed out that what happened in the country is an absolute tragedy for the people.
"We all watched the footage of people losing their houses. What we did is we checked why there is not enough technique. "The problem is not financial," Petkov added and pointed out that there is enough money from the OP "Environment".
We saw that four public procurements were launched in the Ministry of the Interior, of which two are being appealed, one was refused, and the fourth was not launched.
"It really eats at us that there is money in the state, but there are no machines to save people's houses and this is a lack of organization, a lack of coordination. I understand that the people on the ground are doing their best. Really well done to the firefighters, they give their heart and soul, but they can't work without the necessary equipment, he said. There is money in the budgets, there is money in the programs, but what we find are unfulfilled public procurements. This shows that we simply have to do something in this country so that things start to happen better," commented Petkov.
In his words, some of the machines that are in the field are from 40 years ago.
When asked who failed yesterday's meeting of the anti-corruption commission, Petkov commented that GERB suddenly left the meeting, DPS too, BSP too, and from "Vazrazhdane" requested a quorum check.
Petkov commented that this is precisely why the PP-DB prioritized anti-corruption legislation. According to him, public procurements are delayed because they are often appealed to the court, which is also delayed.
"Let's create an authority to monitor these things and when there is a delay in public procurement, to react,'' insisted Petkov.
Borislav Gutsanov also commented on the subject of fires.
"We did something that was extremely reasonable to ask the National Assembly to allocate funds for the injured people. This is the most important, and the second is that funds be set aside for the purchase of aircraft equipment, such as the proposal we made from "BSP for Bulgaria".
Bozhidar Bojanov, MP from the PP-DB and one of the negotiators on the proposed draft declaration for exiting the political crisis, commented that there is no rift between "Democratic Bulgaria" and "We continue the change". He was categorical that their proposed approach to support anti-corruption legislation before handing over the second exploratory mandate does not contradict the Constitution.
