A fire in Greece is approaching our border – the fire is already a kilometer from Bulgaria. Firefighters and foresters are on duty near the villages of Petrovo and Goleshevo.
Two teams of forest officials and teams of the fire service from Sandanski and Gotse Delchev are high in the mountains. Clearing is done where the border passes through pastures and grasses. The vegetation along the border furrow is also cleared.
The fire is supreme. It burns in Mount Orvilos, above Ahladochori in the municipality of Sintiki. There, on the Greek side, they are extinguishing only with helicopters and one plane, since the flames are in an area that ground firefighting teams cannot reach.
Forest officials in Bulgaria are worried that at any moment the fire could pass from our side. The “Ali boot“ bio reserve may be affected.
On the Greek side, populated areas are not threatened by the fire.
