"Probably this is the last regular meeting of the Council of Ministers in this composition", acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said today. "We are available to work until the last day of this government. We have not engaged in "ala-bala", we have not sat in other people's laps, we have no such intention," he declared.
"We held fair and transparent elections and organized some things for the first time. A lot was drawn by representatives of the media, political forces and NGOs. 20 computer specialists were appointed to assist the CEC. They are the main organizer, together with them we have made the elections so good. People said that such events have not been held before," Glavchev also said.
"On April 9, when I received the mandate, I promised to preserve Bulgaria's European path, which has been traced in many governments back in the history of politics. Bulgaria remained a strong ally in NATO – the path to be followed has been preserved," Glavchev said.
He said he hoped the next government would continue efforts to join the Eurozone and land-based Schengen.
"We solve people's problems - it turned out to be more than we thought, but we managed. We signed a decree for the higher education institution to increase the remuneration of the academic staff. We accepted another supplement of BGN 45,200,000 today with a new decree to raise the minimum wage thresholds," the Prime Minister said.
"On the "Danube Bridge" it has not been repaired in 70 years. A new bridge and fence is now almost being built in stages. The idea is to expand all checkpoints because of the annually increasing traffic," he added.
The Prime Minister also commented on the fight against natural disasters in the country. "The most important thing is to pay the funds to the people who need them as quickly as possible," he said. According to him, BGN 300,000 from the Social Assistance Agency were absorbed by 304 families in 7 regions, due to the hail and heavy rains in June. Separately, 25 families from the villages of Voden and Otets Paisievo received 39,450.
