New fires broke out in different places in the country yesterday as well. A fire is also burning near Bulgaria's border with North Macedonia, BTA reported.
Employees of the State Forestry in Blagoevgrad and Simitli, as well as the fire department in Blagoevgrad, traveled to the border with North Macedonia following a report of a renewed fire, reported the Southwest State Enterprise (YZDP). The fire in our western neighbor is in the area of Pehchevo, where a few days ago the fiery element was localized. The fire did not enter Bulgarian territory, added the state enterprise. The Municipality of Simitli and the State Forestry - Simitli have warned residents and farmers to monitor the situation with increased attention and to bear in mind that smog is possible in the dark part of the day.
At this stage, there is no danger that the fire raging in the region of Pehchevo in the Republic of North Macedonia will enter our territory, the director of State Forestry-Blagoevgrad Eng. Kalin Zashev told BTA. According to the forecasts of the officials, there is no danger of the fire entering Bulgaria due to the wind on site. According to Zashev, the front of the fire is about two to three kilometers, and from the side of North Macedonia it can be seen that there is also a helicopter that is extinguishing it. Forestry officials in Simitli remain on duty at the border. The Regional Administration-Blagoevgrad announced that from tomorrow they will start making wide clearings with a tracked bulldozer as a preventive measure, and teams from the fire department and the Southwest State Enterprise will constantly monitor how the fire develops.
