PP-DB called on the SJC not to resume the procedure for electing a new chief prosecutor

The Supreme Judicial Council with an expired mandate does not have the democratic legitimacy to elect a new chief prosecutor for the next seven years

Today, the prosecutorial collegium of the Supreme Judicial Council council (SC) plans to start actions to resume the procedure for electing a new chief prosecutor. We call on the SJC not to do this, said Nadezhda Yordanova from “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) in a statement to the media in the parliament.

"A Supreme Judicial Council with an expired mandate does not have the democratic legitimacy to elect a new chief prosecutor for the next seven years," Yordanova pointed out.

"This same SJC in its composition caused Geshev to the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian citizens as the chief prosecutor,", she commented.
