A thousand people are needed for the commissioning and subsequent work of the Seventh Unit of the "Kozloduy" NPP, announced for BTA Tsanko Bachiiski, chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA), adding that even more will be needed for the start-up and operation of the Eighth Reactor.
According to Bachiyski, the Bulgarian institutions have been working on a National Strategy for the development of human resources in the nuclear sphere for some time, with regular meetings being held. In the implementation of the activities, both experts from operating organizations such as the "Kozloduy" NPP, the "Radioactive Waste" State Enterprise, as well as specialists from the Ministry of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the Ministry of Education and Science, scientific institutes, educational institutions are involved. etc.
Bachiyski pointed out that tens of thousands of builders, installers, etc. will be used during the construction of the new facilities. specialists. According to him, they will not be as much as they were needed years ago for the construction of the units with VVER 1000 reactors at the "Kozloduy" NPP, because the AP 1000 technology, which is expected to be used in the Seventh and Eighth Units, is modular and with easy installation.
He also informed that a few days ago the Nuclear Regulatory Agency announced a market consultation for the possibility of contracting a technical support organization to advise on the regulatory decisions that will be made in the process of regulatory review of the project and oversight at the production of equipment and the preparatory construction activities of Block Seven of the "Kozloduy" NPP.
"We are asking for help with part of the documents that will be submitted for approval of the technical project, as well as in the next stages of the licensing of the Seventh Block. We will need a regulatory guide in line with the legislation," Tsanko Bachiiski told BTA.
