The lawyers announced their readiness to strike after the veto imposed by side of President Rumen Radev on the changes in the Law on Advocacy.

"Categorically, if necessary and if the voice of colleagues and what is quite reasonably demanded by our class is not heard, we are ready to announce effective strike action. This is dangerous, disturbing, harmful to people, obstructing justice in the country, but under these circumstances it is necessary.

This was stated by lawyer Dimitar Markovski before "Deniat ON AIR".

According to him, the reasons the president gave for vetoing the changes are untenable.

"He sees a risk of delaying the court cases, which does not correspond to the factual circumstances. The appointment of the "Special Representative" in a case, in no way, if it is transferred to the relevant bar councils, it will not change in terms of time", Markovski was categorical to Bulgaria ON AIR.

The lawyer countered allegations of lobbying and lack of transparency in the appointment of "special representatives", stressing that this would be done collectively and with great responsibility by the Bar Councils. The guest drew attention to the fact that the lawyers are qualified and their selection is based on their experience and competences.

Adv. Markovski emphasized that the Law on Advocacy is important for improving justice and citizens' access to qualified legal assistance. The bill has been delayed by several parliaments and is in the interest of citizens, not private interests, he noted.

Markovski expressed hope that the deputies will accept the changes before the parliamentary vacation. The lawyer called for common sense to avoid strike action.
