With deep sadness and outrage we react to the tragic loss of life of 18-year-old Magdalena from Haskovo. This horrific crime shakes the entire society and requires immediate, decisive and transparent actions by the institutions.
We insist on:
1. A full, independent and transparent investigation of the case, which will shed light on all the circumstances surrounding the murder of Magdalena.
2. An immediate hearing of the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov in the National Assembly, in order to inform the public about the actions taken by the law enforcement agencies.
We demand that the Minister respond specifically to the questions:
· Did the Ministry of Interior ignore information related to the location of Magdalena and accomplices in the crime in the first hours when the signal was filed?
· Why is Magdalena's mother sharing about threats to her family? What measures have been taken regarding these threats?
· Is there evidence of accomplices to this crime and are they connected to other people from the criminal contingent?
· Is there information that certain employees have obstructed the investigation and are there suspicions of corruption?
3. We also insist that the Ministry of Interior provide guarantees for the protection of the security of citizens in the region, paying special attention to cases in which there are suspicions of corruption in local institutions.
“We Continue the Change” expresses condolences to Magdalena's relatives and declares its full support for revealing the truth and establishing justice. Our society deserves institutions that work transparently and serve citizens, and do not cover up crimes.
Let us fight together for a country in which such tragedies do not remain undisclosed or unpunished.
