Nadezhda Neynsky: May 9 in Russia has become an occasion for rattling weapons

Our position is cautiously favorable to Russia, but at times like this you need to have a categorical position, she said

On May 9, some celebrate war, and others - peace. I took the trouble to track when this holiday turned into a demonstration of military power in Russia. I was not surprised when I found out that it was in 2007, when Putin announced the end of the unipolar world and openly opposed the West and NATO. This was commented on “This Morning“ by former Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky on bTV.

“What I cannot accept, as well as the whole of Europe, is that this day, instead of humility before the victims, in Russia becomes an occasion for rattling weapons and a display of military power. One kind - we are ready for war again when the world wants peace“, said Neynsky.

According to her, there is a crude speculation in Russia that the war in Ukraine is a continuation of the Great Patriotic War, which is not only historically but also politically untrue.

“On this day we should celebrate peace, goodness and solidarity. That which embodies Europe“, commented Neynsky.

“Our position is cautiously favorable to Russia, but at times like this you have to have a categorical position. Bulgaria is part of the EU and the European position and there should be a consensus. At the same time, this hesitation is visible, which constantly exists in our foreign policy and which creates negative feelings, including in our partners“, the diplomat also said.

According to Neynsky, achieving peace in this war will be very difficult.
