After that, it becomes difficult to satisfy specific demands

We must now focus on the steps we will take after the release of the convergence report on the adoption of our country into the Eurozone. This opinion was expressed on Nova TV by the Chairman of the Fiscal Council and former Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov.

"We ourselves must do much more work. Mainly to understand people's fears about adopting the euro. The requested referendum on this is more of a Bulgarian issue," he said.

Dyankov also said that he had spoken to random strangers in the center of Sofia and, according to them, for the information campaign for the introduction of the euro in our country to be effective, it must be led by people whom the people love, trust and are particularly popular - such as our best tennis player Grigor Dimitrov and weightlifter Carlos Nassar - Olympic, two-time world and three-time European champion.

Simeon Dyankov also commented on the 6-day transport strike in Sofia, which was called off after the government allocated 15 million leva to raise employees' salaries. "Protests are generally held before the state budget is adopted. After that, it becomes difficult to satisfy specific demands. But when someone is given money, as happened a week ago with public transport in Sofia, I think it is completely fair for everyone else who feels wronged to also ask for more money. And it's not just the medics," he said.

According to Dyankov, the government quickly made the decision to allocate the 15 million leva "instinctively." "Knowing Boyko Borisov somewhat from our previous work, I assume that he reacted this way mainly because of the upcoming matriculation exams. But the way this crisis was resolved created a prerequisite for even more problems - not only in Sofia, but also in the country," he said.

Simeon Dyankov also announced that he is not a supporter of tying salaries in various sectors to the average for the country. "In the Fiscal Council, we started discussing the topic. "We will propose, before the adoption of the next budget in the National Assembly, that the allocation of larger amounts - for example - over 10 million leva - be put to a vote by the parliament," he noted.
