Traffic for passenger cars has been restored at km 79

A partial working project is being developed for issuing a construction permit and starting construction and assembly activities in the section

Tonight from 0:00 - May 31, traffic for passenger cars up to 3.5 tons was restored on road III-866 Mihalkovo - Krichim at km 79. The restriction for vehicles over 3.5 tons remains, and their passage is via bypass routes, the Road Infrastructure Agency announced.

For vehicles with a total mass of over 3.5 tons traveling to Plovdiv, one-way traffic is permitted in the direction Devin - Shiroka Laka - Pamporovo;

For vehicles with a total mass of over 3.5 tons, two-way traffic is permitted in the directions Devin - Dospat – Batak and Devin – Dospat – Satovcha – Gotse Delchev.

We recall that due to the heavy rainfall between May 10 and 14, 2025 and the overwetting of the embankment, part of the existing retaining wall made of stone masonry at the 79th km of the road was destroyed. Therefore, from May 14, traffic on road III-866 in the Mihalkovo – Krichim section has been restricted to secure the route and traffic has been redirected.

The "Road Infrastructure" Agency has taken urgent and urgent actions for the permanent restoration of the section of road III-866 Mihalkovo – Krichim at the 79th km. After an inspection and determination of the urgency of the activities on the section, contracts were concluded under the Public Procurement Act for design and construction and construction supervision for strengthening the compromised section. Under the concluded contract, a survey and design of a section with a length of about 280 m and strengthening of the route will be carried out. A new culvert will be built, asphalt works, drainage and others will be carried out. Due to unforeseen circumstances that require urgent assignment of strengthening and restoration activities on the section, the contracts were signed in accordance with Art. 79, para. 1, item 4 of the Public Procurement Act, which provides for negotiation without prior notice.

A partial working project is currently being developed, which RIA will submit to the MRDPW for issuing a construction permit and starting construction and installation activities on the section.
