They want to replace the management of the Board of Directors of "Metropolitan" EAD, FOCUS reported. This is clear from a report presented at the Transport and Road Safety Committee of the Sofia Municipal Council held on Monday.
It is also added that the selection will be public. The report was submitted by municipal councilors Boyko Dimitrov, Simeon Stavrev, Bonka Vasileva, Greti Stefanova, Dimitar Petrov, Saad Aluani, Boris Bonev, Vanya Grigorova and Ivan Sotirov.
The people with whom Mayor Vasil Terziev wants to replace the current metro management are impressive. The names that stand out are Eng. Stoyan Bratoev, Eng. Svetoslav Stattev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Mitev, Eng. Kiril Zaikov and Prof. Dr. Eng. Dimitar Dimov, who are visibly compromised.
Prof. Dr. Eng. Dimitar Dimov is closely connected to "Lukoil Neftochim Burgas" and Valentin Zlatev.
There is sufficient data about his work on Lukoil projects, dating back to 2015. Dimov is the father-in-law of the former chief architect of the town of Sozopol – Rumen Alexandrov.
In 2023, charges were brought against him under Art. 282, para. 2, for the fact that during the period 26.11.2007 - 01.10.2009, in the town of Sozopol, in the context of an ongoing crime, 15 times in his capacity as an official holding a responsible official position – Chief Architect of the Municipality of Sozopol, who violated his official duties and exceeded his rights. Chief Architect Rumen Alexandrov held the position in the Municipality of Sozopol from 2007 to 2016. He was part of Panayot Reizi's team and was actually the first appointment that Reizi made in his administration after winning the mayoral elections.
The son of Eng. Kiril Zaikov works for "Trace Group Hold" AD, which is also one of the largest beneficiaries of public procurement from the capital's metro.
There is information that in 2021 the European Anti-Fraud Office OLAF was notified to investigate whether the chairman of the commission for the selection of a contractor for the Sofia metro – Kiril Zaikov, has chosen the company "Trace", where his son works, in a blatant conflict of interest. Over 700 million leva have flowed from Metropolitan Sofia to "Trace" along the father-son axis.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Mitev currently holds the position of executive director of BMGK (Bulgarian Mining and Geological Chamber). The honorary chairman of BMGK is none other than Prof. Dr. Eng. Nikolay Valkanov. The latter is a former director of the Mining Research Institute, general director of the state-owned company "Minstroy Holding", and then vice president for investments of "Multigprop", said to be one of Ahmed Dogan's closest people.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Mitev is seen and perceived by many as the "right hand" of Nikolay Valkanov and it is no coincidence that he is entrusted with the operational management of BMGK.
The department headed by Eng. Svetoslav Stattev is connected to the two craters on Tsarigradsko Shose, which were formed during the work on the new metro station. We recall that at the end of April 2025, a roadway in the capital's "Mladost" district collapsed and a huge crater with a diameter of about 3 meters was formed. A few days ago, a second hole opened only about 20-30 meters from the large gap in the asphalt, and residents are worried that the nearby block may begin to collapse.
Eng. Stattev assures that this was part of the technological process of the department entrusted to him.
The questions are: "Why exactly does Mayor Vasil Terziev propose this team and in what way is he tied to them?" and "Why, after only the metro saved him during the public transport strike in Sofia - does the mayor clear its managers?".
