PP convenes National Council after Petkov's resignation

Party activists will outline measures after the corruption scandal in the capital

"We continue the change“ is convening the party's National Council to decide what measures it will take after the resignation of one of the co-chairs, Kiril Petkov, and the departure of mayors and municipal councilors in Sofia with accusations of pressure in the conclusion of public procurement contracts, BNR reported.

Since the scandal broke out at the beginning of the week, not a single representative of the leadership has issued a statement. Only Lena Borislavova, whose name is heard in the leaked recording with the voices of Lyulin district mayor Georgi Todorov and the arrested deputy mayor of Sofia Municipality Nikola Barbutov, wrote on "Facebook" that "a handful of young people with beards are busy slandering the PP", but "everyone will bear their responsibility". However, she deleted her words a little later.

According to unofficial information, some of the members of the Council intend to demand that all those involved in the scandal resign

Against this background, yesterday the PP announced that they had been accepted as full members of the Alliance of Liberals ALDE. At the conference in Helsinki, Asen Vassilev and Nikolay Denkov signed the document.
