Kiril Petkov is expected to resign as an MP today. On Wednesday, Petkov said that he would resign as a member of parliament and co-chairman of the PP.

The resignation came after the scandal with the municipal mayors and councilors, who left the formation due to accusations against the leadership of pressure to conclude public procurement contracts with certain companies, the subsequent arrest of Deputy Mayor Nikola Barbutov and the release into the public domain of an audio recording of the conversation between Barbutov and the mayor of "Lyulin" Georgi Todorov. Last night it became clear that "We Continue the Change" is convening an elective General Assembly on September 27 and 28 to elect its governing bodies. Until September 27, Asen Vassilev remains the sole leader of the formation.
Kiril Petkov has stated that he does not want to be re-elected as leader, Vassilev also announced. He stressed that the accusations against the PP are groundless, because no appointments have followed. Lena Borislavova, whose name is also mentioned in the recording in question between Barbutov and Todorov, stated that she was in no way involved in such conversations or schemes and did not put pressure on anyone.
