There are no active fires in the country at the moment. Those that broke out over the past 24 hours have been extinguished, attention is focused on the Haskovo region and Varna, said in "The Day Begins" on BNT, the director of the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov.

According to him, the most common cause of fires is human activity.

According to Dzhartov, the expectations are a tough season in terms of fires.

"The first few seconds or minutes it is possible for a person to cope on their own if they have previously prepared either a fire extinguisher, or containers with water, or a hose that is supplied with water. "Once the first few minutes have passed, it is not possible to control the fire with the means at hand and with the skills and knowledge of individual citizens. We must be extremely careful, this risk is usually underestimated," added Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov.

He explained that it is not uncommon for elderly people who carry out these activities in their yards to be injured, and some have died.
