The Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov held a meeting with Alexander Rangelov, CEO of the company that developed the first Bulgarian project to receive strategic status under the EC's Net Zero Emissions Regulation (NZIA). The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova. The Ministry of Economy and Industry coordinates the implementation of the Net Zero Emissions Regulation for Bulgaria.
The innovative project has already been entered into the European Commission's public register of strategic projects. The project “BG EXERON X-BESS” in the field of batteries and energy storage technologies is one of a total of six projects selected from across Europe.
The production will put Bulgaria on the world map for the production of energy storage technologies in batteries, in full unison with the goals set out in the Regulation on secure and sustainable supply of zero net emission technologies, expansion of production capacities and their supply chains.
Minister Dilov pointed out that active work is being done to improve energy efficiency and security of supply for the Bulgarian industry, paying particular attention to zero emission technologies.
“The project is an important step towards including Bulgaria among European producers of environmental technologies and the implementation of high-tech solutions to overcome climate change“, Minister Dilov pointed out.
According to him, it is expected to support efforts to increase security of supply and contribute to the development of the energy storage industry in Bulgaria and Europe.
„We believe that this project will take its rightful place as a key factor in the clean technology chain. This is a step forward for Bulgaria and our participation in the European and global energy transformation industry“, emphasized Dilov.
BG EXERON X-BESS is a battery-based electric energy storage system, fully developed using patented technology by International Power Supply AD (IPS). Production will take place in the high-tech industrial park „Hemus“, Kremikovtzi district, Sofia. The project envisages the creation of at least 65 new jobs by the end of 2025, with a significant percentage of them being with high added value - 25% in the field of development and engineering, as well as 60% technical specialists. Production is expected to be launched this fall.
