„Whether the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will last depends on the way it is used. After all, it is two years old, but its actions so far do not show any effectiveness. 95% of the cases that the commission has filed have been lost. 4% are currently in the process of the next instance and the effectiveness of this commission is 1%“. This was commented on the air of „This Morning“ on bTV by journalist Yovo Nikolov, referring to data from the Anti-Corruption Fund.

„This commission costs us, the taxpayers (the budget for 2025), 18 million leva. Last year, the budget for it was 11 million leva. Of these 18 million leva - 10 million leva are salaries. The temporary acting head of this commission, Plamen Tonchev, receives a gross salary of 14,500 leva. We do not yet know what allowances he has, because he performs two functions - as chairman of the CPC and as chairman of the Confiscation Commission,“ pointed out Yovo Nikolov.

In his words, the existence of the CPC is absolutely meaningless, but "closing it will not hinder Peevski's influence, because he controls the prosecutor's office," the journalist commented.

Political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva pointed out that this commission is criticized by the leader of "DPS-New Beginning" because it is used by the PP-DB to make PR.

„This commission is completely useless, the big bet and the division yesterday happened because this commission, authored by the PP-DB, is actually embedded in the criteria for allocating money and resources under the Recovery Plan - 5 billion“, commented the political scientist.

„The big problem is why it got to this point. Somehow the 5-year crisis is related to this. The crisis was created to dismantle the institutions, to gut them from the inside, so that they could be taken over. The beneficiaries of this crisis were „We continue the change“ as the Council of Ministers – they made justice a bludgeon, arresting the leader, and Rumen Radev used the institute of official authority to push through his sole power and in the end there were those for a presidential republic”, commented Tsvetanka Andreeva.

“The thesis that the CPC should remain because some money depends on it is very weak. The point of the CPC is to counteract corruption, if the only benefit from it is not to lose money from the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, it is emptied of content. But alas, the other thesis is also true, that if the commission is abruptly closed, all the efforts of Tomislav Donchev and his people to recover the money will go to waste“, commented political scientist and lecturer at Sofia University Assoc. Prof. Stoycho Stoychev.
