The investigation into the tragic incident in which an 8-year-old child died after falling from an amusement parachute near the beach in Nessebar continues. He was with his mother at a height of nearly 50 meters.
According to unofficial information, a belt that attached the child to the parachute broke. After the fall, his mother remained in the air.
The investigation is being conducted by investigators at the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office. Three people responsible for the attraction were detained by the police yesterday.
The "Maritime Administration", which is responsible for the boat pulling the parachute, said that the vessel had passed an inspection only a month ago. It had all the necessary permits and insurance. It is still unclear which institution monitors the safety of the facility itself.
"We saw that a child was taken out in a visibly serious condition, but with basic, visible vital signs. Whether bordering on life or not, I am not a medical professional and cannot comment. He was transported by express to the medical station on the beach, where doctors and rescuers began a fight for life, which lasted more than an hour and 10 minutes without stopping.
The first ambulance after the call to 112 arrived after at least 20 minutes, during which the ambulance doctor determined that there was no such type of resuscitation equipment and there was no way to fight for life. A second ambulance had to be called, which left from Burgas, with a police escort, but it still took about 40 minutes to arrive. Therefore, both ambulances arrived in an hour and 10 minutes. For me personally, the child had a chance with faster actions by successful assistance," Tihomir Atanasov, a witness, told BNT.
The head of the Water Rescue Service Ivan Georgiev told BNT that this case is a precedent for Bulgaria.
"As users and owners of this beach, our main prerogative is to ensure maximum safety, both in the water area near the beach and on the beach itself. We cooperate and are open to any subsequent recommendations and actions by the competent authorities to increase this safety. From the moment we received a signal from a beachgoer that there was an incident at the water base, the medical team was ready to meet the inflatable object with which the victim was pulled out. At the same time, the resuscitation process was started as quickly as possible in the medical resuscitation point on the beach. So far, there has been no such incident with such a facility on the territory of Bulgaria. This is the first ridiculous tragedy to occur. According to our information, such similar cases only occur in Greece and Montenegro, where such cases have been registered," commented Ivan Georgiev.
