President Trump conducted a jewelry operation. This was what GERB leader Boyko Borisov told journalists in Plovdiv. He and Plovdiv Metropolitan Nikolai inspected the newly built church in the "Trakia" district in the regional city, reports novini.bg.
He (US President Donald Trump - ed.) had the courage to stake his authority and make the meeting with President Putin - a very complicated meeting, with a very personal charge and a very heavy responsibility for President Trump. After that, he very masterfully played the topic with his closest partners, which are us, the European countries. He invited the leaders of the largest countries, the President of the European Commission and together with President Zelensky they took quite a few right steps, Borisov said.
I am an optimist. The victims, the murdered – this must stop. I am an optimist. Very strong people in the face of the European Union and President Trump. I think I know President Putin well – he will not miss making this extremely important move to get out of the isolation he was placed in, the GERB leader added.
Asked whether the government and the control bodies are coping with the situation in view of the adoption of the Euro Law and the upcoming introduction of the euro in Bulgaria on January 1, 2026, he indicated: "I think they are coping wonderfully. Bulgarians, when they go to Greece, it's in euros there too, what's so scary about it?"
In response to a question about whether he feels a preliminary increase in the cost of living before the introduction of the euro, Boyko Borisov said: "No, I can't say". This is what the statistics show. The benefits will be felt next year. Not only in the interest rates on loans, which are already being felt, but also what is happening in the country, he added.
Commenting on the water crisis, Borisov pointed out: "Climate change is a fact. In this respect, we are balanced in terms of water mainly from snowmelt, the dams are filled from them. Short torrential rains don't work, so we need drilling, water capture, all the plans that we had. 1.2 billion I left 5-6 years ago. In the Water and Sewerage Company, in the sector - Assen Vassilev took them and gave them to pensions. I hope that now the government will make very urgent decisions to bring water, to drill water, to repair the water supply network and to solve the problem in its entirety".
