BDZ expects over 1 million leva from the state for the accommodation of refugees from Ukraine

For the first six months of 2025, BDZ Holding has provided accommodation and food for Ukrainians who have been granted temporary protection in the holiday camps in Primorsko, near Varna and Panichishte with its own funds

"BDZ Holding" is waiting for over a million leva from the state to cover the costs of refugees from Ukraine accommodated in its camps. This is clear from the published analysis of the Holding's activities for the first half of 2025.

BDZ carries fewer passengers and cargo, the analysis also reports.

For the first six months of 2025, BDZ Holding has provided accommodation and food for Ukrainians who have been granted temporary protection in the holiday camps in Primorsko, near Varna and Panichishte with its own funds. The group has been seeking assistance under a humanitarian aid program every month to cover part of the expenses incurred. However, so far, a total of about 3,400,000 leva has been received out of the expected 5,200,000 leva. In March, the Holding received 122,000 leva under the program. They were recorded as income for 2024.

The losses of "BDZ Holding" for the first six months of this year are growing. 43,734,000 leva - with a loss of almost 20 million leva.

Among the reasons are the decreased revenues from transportation activities, an increase in the costs of fuel, electricity and heat, the increase in the minimum wage by 15%, the payment of more fines and penalties to external organizations.

The data in the report show that for the first 6 months of the year, BDZ transported about 10,490,000 passengers - 165,000 fewer than in the same period of 2024. It also transported 16% less cargo. Therefore, the holding's revenues are 8% lower than the business program.

Regardless of these data, the report for the six-month period of the management of "Holding BDZ" reports that "there is no material uncertainty regarding the holding company's ability to continue as a going concern".
