Lawyer Zornitsa Kostova stated on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria“ on Nova TV that in the case related to the so-called prosecutor's son from Pernik, there are serious concerns both about access to information and about possible pressure on witnesses.
According to her, an attempt was made to obtain information on a previous investigation in which Vasil Mihaylov is a defendant, but such access was denied. Kostova also indicated that there is evidence of threats to other individuals through intermediaries, and according to her, some of the potential witnesses are afraid to give testimony.
The lawyer claims that multiple investigators are working on the case, and according to the available information, Mihaylov fled in the direction of the cemetery park near the village of Lyulin after the attempted murder of a police officer and his father. Later, according to her, he was hidden in Borovets, which happened on the night of the attack. Kostova added that the other suspect - 22-year-old H.S. - received help and was hidden in a hotel in Pernik.

She also pointed to previous incidents related to Mihaylov, including a case from February this year, in which, according to her, police officers' cars were set on fire. According to her, during the subsequent action of the law enforcement agencies, fences were built, but Mihaylov managed to avoid detention during the attempted arrest.
According to Kostova, there are indications that the suspect may be trying to leave the country, having already sought and received financial assistance from his relatives.

We recall that an investigation is underway under the leadership of the prosecutor's office into the attempted murder of a police officer from the Directorate of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and his father in the village of Lyulin, Pernik. According to the investigators, on March 25, armed and masked individuals headed for the officer's home, but after firing warning shots, they withdrew.
The accused in the case has been detained for a period of up to 72 hours, and the court is yet to decide whether to impose a permanent measure of "detention in custody". The investigation continues, and the search is on for the second participant in the attack, who is believed to be the "prosecutor's son".
