The District Prosecutor's Office - Pleven is leading the pre-trial investigation into the murder of D.M. , aged 42, by her husband K.K., aged 57. The report of the committed crime was submitted around 06:50 on 10/04/2024 on phone 112.
In the initial stage of the investigation, it was established that the injured D.M. and K.K. have lived together since 2002, having lived in Spain for about 20 years. In 2016, they entered into a civil marriage. By the end of 2023, D.M. returned to Bulgaria, together with their two children. The woman twice submitted applications for divorce to the district court, which she subsequently withdrew. At the beginning of 2024, D.M. applied to the district court for a domestic violence protection order. A little later, she withdrew the request, and the issued order for immediate protection was invalidated and the case was dismissed.
Until the time of the accident, the two spouses, together with their two children, lived in a house owned and occupied by D.M.'s parents. On the morning of April 10, 2024, the victim's mother found her body in the family bedroom. During the examination of the body of D.M. six stab wounds were found in the neck, in the arm and in the back. In the same room where D.M.'s corpse was found, a knife was also found, with which, according to the initial version, the crime was supposed to have been committed.
Later, the body of the self-hanging KK was found. in a house he had bought months ago. In the case, various versions regarding the motives, conditions and methods and means of committing the acts are being checked, and additional inspections of the scene of the accident, questioning of witnesses, the appointment of experts and the collection of other evidence to establish the reasons that led to to the committed crime.
The investigation continues under the direction of the District Prosecutor's Office-Pleven by an investigative police officer from the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs-Pleven, the press center of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office - Veliko Tarnovo announced.
