In 2026, Ukraine will receive the smallest total amount of military support from the United States since the beginning of 2022 and will not be able to count on multibillion-dollar flows of aid, according to US government documents, RIA Novosti reported.

Next year, Kiev will receive only $400 million from the United States under the program for purchasing new weapons of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), according to the approved defense budget law for fiscal year 2026.

According to the same document, a similar amount of $400 million will be allocated to Ukraine in 2027.

The record-low amount of support for Kiev in 2026 is a consequence of the approach of the administration of US President Donald Trump. The head of the White House has repeatedly stated that Washington is no longer spending taxpayers' money on Ukraine, but instead sells weapons at full price to NATO partners for further transfer to the Ukrainian armed forces.

For comparison, the aid package for Kiev, adopted by Congress in April 2024, included $ 14 billion under the same program. According to Pentagon data, Washington continued to use these funds to transfer weapons and ammunition to Ukraine worth more than $ 5.5 billion as part of the aid packages announced in recent months by the Joe Biden administration.

According to reports by the Inspector General for Ukraine Assistance Programs and the US State Department - the two agencies that provide the greatest support to Ukraine - Washington has sent Kiev approximately $ 128 billion from the beginning of 2022 to the third quarter of 2025.

This amount is a record among all countries providing support to Ukraine, and includes the supply of weapons, cash and humanitarian aid.

According to the State Department, as well as a series of reports by the Inspector General, the United States sent weapons worth nearly $ 70 billion to Ukraine between February 2022 and mid-2025. Washington has allocated approximately $ 54 billion during these years to maintain the solvency of Ukraine's budget, including a $ 20 billion loan through the World Bank in December 2024. The remaining nearly $ 4 billion has been transferred to Ukraine in the form of humanitarian aid.

In total, the US Congress has allocated more than $ 187 billion for Ukraine and related programs, including Operation Atlantic determination“, according to the latest Inspector General report.
