The situation in Ukraine and the Middle East will be the focus of foreign ministers' attention at their meeting in Brussels.

Bulgaria will be represented by acting foreign minister Nadezhda Neinsky.

It is still unclear whether the ministers will be able to reach an agreement on the 20th sanctions package against Russia, which is expected to be adopted by tomorrow, when it will be 4 years since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last week, the permanent representatives of the member states met several times, but without result. The €90 billion loan for Ukraine will also be among the topics to be debated, but here too a serious problem has arisen after Hungary threatened to block it due to the halted oil transfer from the Russian-damaged Druzhba pipeline in Ukraine and the refusal of Croatia and the Commission to allow fuel from Russia via the Adria pipeline.

The meeting will also be attended by the High Representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, who will have the opportunity to exchange views with the ministers and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, on concrete actions under the comprehensive peace plan for Gaza. The Peace Council, which was established by US President Donald Trump, held its first meeting on Thursday in Washington. The European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, attended it as an observer. Bulgaria, which was among the founders, was represented by a three-member delegation from the Foreign Ministry.
