Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Tani discussed how to end the 27-month-long full-scale conflict in Ukraine with Russia and efforts to keep all channels of communication open, Qatar News Agency reported, quoted by BTA.
Zelensky also commented on his conversations in the "Lusail" palace. with the emir of Qatar, including preparations for next week's peace summit in Switzerland, to which Russia was not invited.
Qatar News Agency reported that the talks focused on the development of the conflict "including the efforts of the international community to end the war, protect the civilian population and keep open all channels to resolve the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means".
Efforts to promote bilateral relations were also discussed, the Qatari agency added.
Zelensky thanked the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his support in preserving the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the emirate's support for UN resolutions condemning Russia. He also expressed gratitude for Qatar's efforts to ensure the return of Ukrainian children taken to Russia during the conflict and said the two countries would continue their cooperation.
