Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed today, that he wants to "push" the Ukrainian forces, who invaded the Kursk region on August 6, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA. This is the largest incursion of Ukrainian military units into Russian territory since the beginning of the war in February 2022.
„The main task of the defense ministry is undoubtedly to push the enemy out of our territories,”, Putin said during a meeting with senior security officials and regional governors broadcast on Russian television. “The enemy seeks to improve its negotiating position in the future,”, he added, accusing Kiev of “doing the will” in the West.
The Russian president added that the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region is an attempt to stop the Russian advance in Donbass.
According to Putin, the Ukrainian offensive on Russian territory is an attempt by Kiev to undermine Russia's stability, but “it will not be successful”.
„The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces are increasing dramatically for them, including among the most combat-capable units that the enemy is transferring to our border," Putin said. "The enemy will certainly receive a worthy response, and all the goals that stand before us will undoubtedly be achieved," the Russian leader added.
