Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga has called on Ukraine's allies to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons against military targets in Russia, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement in "X", quoted by BTA.
He referred to Article 51 of the UN Charter, which states that a country defending itself from aggression cannot be limited in its defense.
„International law allows Ukraine to strike military targets on Russian territory. "Allow Ukraine to retaliate and save lives," the minister wrote.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine needs permission from four countries to use long-range weapons against military targets in Russia - the United States, Britain, France and Germany.
Former British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps called on the current leader of the British government, Rishi Sunak, to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of "Storm Shadow" missiles on Russian territory.
