Axios: Israel is preparing a quick strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if talks between Washington and Tehran fail

Tel Aviv plans to conduct a military campaign for at least a week, the portal's sources believe

The Israeli army is preparing to launch a quick strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if talks between Washington and Tehran fail, the portal Axios reported, citing its sources.

According to them, the Israeli military believes that they will have little time to attack Iran if the nuclear talks fail, and is preparing to launch a quick strike, without giving details as to why the “window“ for him "could be closed quickly".

Discussions about a possible strike began in the past few days, when Israeli intelligence doubted the successful outcome of consultations between the US and Iran, sources told the portal. As Axios writes, if an attack occurs, it will not be a one-time attack, and Israel plans to conduct a military campaign for at least a week.

“Netanyahu is waiting for the nuclear talks to fail and for Trump to be disappointed with them and ready to give the green light“, Axios quotes one of the Israeli sources. An American official told the portal that the Trump administration fears that Netanyahu may make a decision without prior approval from Washington.

Earlier, CNN reported, citing sources in the US ruling circles, that the Israeli armed forces are preparing to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, despite the negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The sources are not sure whether Israeli authorities have made a final decision to attack, and American intelligence does not clearly confirm the Jewish state's intentions.

The United States and Iran, with the mediation of Oman, have held four rounds of talks to resolve differences over Tehran's nuclear program. The first of these was held on April 12 in the Omani capital of Muscat, the second on April 19 in Rome, the third and fourth on April 26 and May 11 again in the Omani capital. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the American delegation by the president's special envoy Stephen Witkoff. The fifth round of talks between Iran and the United States could be held in Rome on May 24 and 25.
