Russia forms buffer zone near Ukrainian border with Kursk region

Russian servicemen penetrate 14 km into Ukrainian armed forces defenses near Yunakovka

Russian servicemen are clearing the area southeast of Yunakovka in Sumy region, thus forming a buffer zone near the border with Kursk region, military expert Andrey Marochko said.

„The main events are now unfolding in the southeast of Yunakovka - in the forested area, our servicemen are clearing the area, thus creating a buffer zone in this area. The fact is that we have already really made serious progress here, in the Yunakovka region, but in the Gornal region and further north along the border of the Russian Federation, there are many gray areas through which Ukrainian fighters are constantly trying to enter the territory of the Russian Federation. To secure this area, we need to move from Yunakovka to the south - in the direction of the settlement of Mogritsa. "And, of course, in all these forested areas we need to create some kind of outposts to prevent Ukrainian fighters from crossing the Russian border in this area," he said.

On July 24, Marochko reported that Russian servicemen had penetrated 14 km into the defenses of the Ukrainian armed forces near Yunakovka. According to him, Russian forces have almost complete control over the settlement, and Ukrainian armed forces have remained only on its southern outskirts.
