The European Union's car market recorded positive growth in August, with a total of 790,177 new vehicles registered, an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2024. This solid performance highlights the ongoing recovery of the sector and the strong interest of consumers in certain models.
ICE crossovers dominate the Top 10
The analysis of data from JATO shows that the preferences of European buyers are clearly directed towards models from the crossover segment. The sales leader for the month is the Volkswagen T-Roc with an impressive 14,693 registrations, marking a growth of 14%. This positions the model as the most popular car among European consumers.
Other models from the same segment also demonstrate strong performance. The Volkswagen Tiguan recorded a significant jump of 23% with 12,094 registrations, while the Hyundai Tucson had the biggest increase in the ranking – a full 28% with 11,350 registrations. The Toyota Yaris Cross also maintained its position among the most sought-after with 12,201 registrations.
Although some of the established models such as the Dacia Sandero (13,834 registrations) and Renault Clio (12,091 registrations) maintained their top positions, the data also shows a dynamic in demand. Opel Corsa also registered a positive growth of 2%, and the eternal Volkswagen Golf continues to be among the best-sellers, despite a slight decline.
