The Polish studio Carlex Design, known for its extravagant tuning projects, has presented a unique modification of the Mercedes-AMG G63. This car is part of the exclusive Himalaya limited series, which immediately caused a sensation not only with its design, but also with its price - it reaches a colossal 1.7 million dollars.
The Himalaya project is not just tuning; it is a concept for a “reverse restoration model“. The idea is to take a modern car with the latest technologies and transform it stylistically to resurrect the classic aesthetics of past decades. The series includes only seven cars, each of which is a unique interpretation. In addition to the Mercedes-AMG G63, the luxury range also includes models such as Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, Range Rover Vogue and Ferrari Purosangue.
The main distinguishing feature of this Mercedes-AMG G63 Himalaya is its paint finish. The exterior is painted by mixing about one kilogram of diamond dust with white enamel. The result is a deep pearlescent sheen that changes its shades depending on the angle of the light, resembling the cold glow of snowy mountain peaks.
The process of applying this expensive paint is extremely precise and is carried out entirely by hand, since the cost of the material is measured in tens of thousands of dollars. According to Carlex Design, the painting stage alone took about three weeks.
The exterior is complemented by a large-scale widebody kit, including massive extended arches, new bumpers with chrome accents, a classic radiator grille and retro emblems. The exclusive rims are combined with tires with white sidewalls, which reinforces the reference to the design of classic off-road vehicles from the mid-20th century.
The interior of the G-Class Himalaya has been declared a "masterpiece of craftsmanship". A central element is the use of the unique Himalaya leather, made from crocodile skin. This extremely rare and expensive material is the same one that the legendary fashion house Hermès uses for its iconic Birkin bags. This leather is used for the front seats and the center rear seat.
The remaining surfaces are upholstered in a combination of white and brown leather, and the headliner is covered in hand-stitched Alcantara. Every detail - from the decorative inserts to the intricate stitching - is handcrafted, turning the interior into a unique work of art.
Carlex Design emphasizes that this Mercedes-AMG G63 is one of a kind and will not be reproduced in series. The inspiration for the entire Himalaya series comes from the grandeur and purity of the Himalayas, with the studio striving to convey a sense of grandeur and tranquility through the combination of precious materials, colors and textures. The laboriousness of the manual production - which can take up to six months to assemble the entire car - justifies the exceptional price and emphasizes that the main goal is to create unique works of art that combine individuality.
