Kia is going beyond the traditional automotive industry, preparing the ground for a completely new segment in its electric portfolio. The Korean giant is seriously considering the production of a serial version of the bold Vision Meta Turismo concept - a futuristic grand tourer that crosses out boring definitions, balancing between an elegant sedan and a dynamic crossover.
In industry circles, there is already strong talk that the model will bear the designation EV7 or EV8, filling the niche of the spiritual successor to the iconic Stinger. Vision Meta Turismo is not just another design sketch, but a showcase of the brand's next-generation philosophy. The strongly forward-stretched silhouette, combined with increased ground clearance and aggressive proportions, suggests a car that is equally prepared for highway crossings and the modern urban jungle.
However, the real revolution lies under the glass dome of the interior. KIA challenges the decades-old dogma of symmetry, creating a radically different environment for the driver and his passenger. The driver's seat is designed as a high-tech “immersive cockpit“, which lacks conventional screens and buttons. All information is projected via an innovative head-up display on the windshield, and control is entrusted to an intuitive steering wheel and a specific joystick on the armrest.
Oliver Samson, KIA's chief designer for Europe, emphasizes that with the premiere of the compact EV2, the brand's current range is practically complete. This puts the company in a unique position to start “clean” with the design of the next wave of electric vehicles. “Every new project for us is a new sheet of paper. "We don't want to repeat the familiar, but to define new forms," Samson told Autocar.
The Meta Turismo is currently serving as a kind of "litmus" for public reaction. The car's three digital modes - Speedster for dynamics, Dreamer for relaxation and Gamer for entertainment - show that KIA sees the cabin as an interactive space, not just a vehicle. If the dialogue with future buyers proves successful, we will soon see a serial electric flagship on the roads, which has no analogue in modern automotive engineering.
