Cheap Chinese Volkswagen ID.Unyx 07 goes into production - 1

The production of one of the most important models for Volkswagen's future has begun. The new ID.Unyx 07 has officially started rolling off the assembly lines of the Hefei plant - a car that marks a turning point in the German giant's strategy. This atypical "cross-sedan" is not just another electric car, but a technological pioneer built on the brand new electronic architecture CEA (China Electronic Architecture).

Developed in record time (only 18 months!) together with the Chinese technology guru Xpeng, the CEA platform is a true software miracle. Engineers have managed to reduce the number of control units by as much as 30%, which makes the system not only lighter and cheaper to produce, but also far more agile. Oh, the fans technology lovers will love – ID.Unyx 07 supports full “cloud“ updates (OTA) and features artificial intelligence in the cabin, adapted specifically for the needs of the modern digital nomad.

Visually, the ID.Unyx 07 has a bold look that blurs the lines between an elegant sedan and a practical crossover. With a length of 4,853 mm and increased ground clearance, it looks more muscular than the standard Jetta, and the protective plastic body kit gives it an adventurous spirit. Under the sheet metal, however, things get even more serious. The debut version relies on a rear-wheel drive with a power of 231 horsepower, powered by a battery with a capacity of 59.9 kWh. The most impressive thing? Thanks to optimized aerodynamics and a lightweight construction, the range on a single charge exceeds the mark of 550 kilometers - a figure that until recently was reserved only for much more expensive models.

The interior, although still shrouded in a slight mystery, is expected to follow the minimalist style of its “cousin” ID.Unyx 06 (known in Europe as the Cupra Tavascan), but with a more advanced semi-autonomous driving system. This model is just the first swallow – it will soon be joined by its larger sibling, the ID.Unyx 08 crossover.

It is clear that Volkswagen is no longer just trying to catch up with the competition in China, but is starting to play by its rules – with speed, lower costs and world-class software. It remains to be seen whether this German-Chinese “assembly” will also find its way to European dealers, where the hunger for affordable and technologically advanced electric vehicles is greater than ever.
