The Chinese offensive on the Bulgarian car market is no longer just a forecast, but a reality that will definitely rearrange the maps of the Bulgarian new car market. With the entry of giants such as MG and BYD, along with the most serious Chery players - Omoda and Jaecoo, consumers are faced with a paradox: the choice is huge, but the "cheap" Chinese cars are never coming. In our country, attractively priced, but not cheap, high-tech models are offered, which in general can be classified as belonging to the middle price segment.

The analysis of the current price lists for February 2026 shows that the entry ticket for a new Chinese car starts at around 19,940 euros. Models such as the electric Leapmotor T03 (19,915 euros) and the petrol MG3, whose base price starts at 17,875 euros, operate in this category. These are the proposals that successfully attack the territory of established budget models from Europe, offering significantly more standard equipment.

However, the real battle is fought in the segment between 28,120 and 38,345 euros. Here, the new additions Omoda 5 (starting at 27,750 euros) and Jaecoo 7 (around 32,775 euros) face off against the proven Haval H6, whose prices for the new generation start at 32,465 euros. The MG S5 also falls into this range, which, with a price of around 34,000 euros, remains one of the most affordable full-size electric cars on the market. But these models do not rely only on low price, but also on aggressive warranty conditions – often reaching 7 years or 150,000 - 200,000 km.

At the upper end of the spectrum, Chinese brands are now confidently crossing the 51,130 euro mark. Flagships such as the electric BYD Tang, the luxurious Voyah Free and the sporty MG Cyberster (reaching 68,000 euro) show that Beijing also has ambitions in the premium class. Even hybrid SUVs such as the Omoda 9 SHS are now positioned around 49,595 euro, offering power and materials that were until recently reserved for the German three.

The mathematical average value of Chinese models offered in our country to date is fixed at approximately 33,950 euro including VAT

It is important to note that this figure is strongly influenced by the growing share of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (PHEV), which are naturally more expensive than the internal combustion versions. However, in a direct comparison, the Chinese representatives retain a price advantage of about 15-20% over their European and Japanese competitors.

An interesting trend on the Bulgarian market is the offer of special “promotional“ equipment levels for the first units of the new models. This allows brands such as Leapmotorq MG and Geely to maintain psychological limits below 25,000 euros for well-equipped crossovers, which makes them particularly attractive to corporate fleets, as well as private customers looking for maximum value for their money.
