A shake-up of the layers marked the global luxury limousine market in the past 2025, as the traditional hierarchy in the elite segment was seriously tested. The latest data from Focus2Move reveals a new king of the road - the BMW 5 Series, which not only climbed to the top, but literally overtook the competition. The Bavarian model demonstrated an impressive growth of 26.2%, occupying 14.4% of the global share of cars over 4.8 meters long.
The big news, however, is the dethronement of the eternal rival from Stuttgart. In the long-standing gladiatorial battle for prestige, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class this time had to bow its head, occupying only the third position. Sales of the “star” shrank by 4.5%, which brought its market share down to 13% - an unexpected turn for a model that had been dictating the rules in the business class for decades.
The Audi A6 has cleverly wedged itself between the two German giants. With a balanced growth of 5.9% and a market share of 13.6%, Ingolstadt has proven that discreet luxury and technological advancement continue to win the hearts of the conservative buyer. Thus, the top three remain dangerously close to each other, keeping the tension in the segment to a boiling point.
The Chinese offensive has also left its mark, albeit with mixed signals. BYD Han managed to hold on to fourth place, despite suffering a serious sales crash, losing over 40% of its volume. At the same time, the Toyota Crown came in fifth, followed closely by the Korean Hyundai Grandeur, which has demonstrated enviable stability. The real furore, however, came from the Chery Fulvin A9 - this model made an unthinkable jump of 118 positions to settle directly into the Top 10, declaring the ambitions of the East for domination.
The final touches in the elite ten are placed by the Genesis G80 and the flagship BMW 7 Series. While the Korean luxury brand reports a slight decline, the top sedan of the Bavarians adds 3.6% to its result, consolidating the dominance of the Brand from Munich at the end of a dynamic year.
