Stellantis beats tariffs on Chinese electric cars - 1

The European automotive chessboard has acquired a new, key piece. The giant Stellantis has put an end to months of speculation and officially lifted the curtain on its ambitious plan for the Old Continent. In Zaragoza, the conveyors churning out electric vehicles of the Chinese brand Leapmotor will soon be launched.

This strategic move is not just industry news, but a real tectonic shift. The plant in Figueruelas is already feverishly preparing to welcome the first big player in this new era - the Leapmotor B10 electric crossover. Serial production is expected to reach full speed in the second half of 2026, making Spain a vanguard of affordable electric mobility.

Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, personally confirmed the news, which until recently had only been whispered in the industry's corridors. "The gauntlet has been thrown down," as the group says, preparing to modernize lines and build a large-scale local supply network. An interesting detail is the participation of Lieder Automotive - a joint venture between the Chinese Duoli Technology and the Basque specialists from Fagor Ederlan, who will coordinate the rhythm of deliveries for the chassis of the new model.

The Leapmotor B10 itself is a car that we tested first and which aims to hit the top ten. With a length of 4.52 meters, this crossover skillfully balances between the compact and mid-range, offering European chic at extremely aggressive prices. Entry-level models are expected to start at around €29,990, while more heavily equipped versions with a larger battery capacity will reach €33,990.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The horizon until 2027 looks even more promising, with Figueruelas preparing the ground for a fleet of models, including the expected B05 and the compact city warriors A10 and A05. This entire invasion is being orchestrated by Leapmotor International - a joint venture in which Stellantis holds a 51% controlling stake, ensuring that European standards and taste will be at the forefront.

The expansion does not stop at the factory gates. The brand's dealer network in Europe is literally exploding, reaching over 800 sales and service outlets, including in our country through SFA dealers. The effect of this deployment is already evident: statistics for the end of 2025 show a dizzying jump in sales - from a modest 1,300 to over 17,000 vehicles delivered in just one quarter. With its presence in new markets, including Bulgaria, Leapmotor is making a statement that the “Chinese wave” is no longer just imports, but local production with serious intentions.
