Why are the world's premium car manufacturers abandoning electric cars en masse? - 1

The euphoria surrounding the full electrification of the high segment in the automotive world seems to have begun to crack under the pressure of reality. While in the gray decor of the big metropolis, silent batteries on wheels seem like a logical and pragmatic choice - mostly because of tax breaks and free parking - in the world of true passion, things look completely different. For people whose veins run high-octane fuel, the silence of the electric motor is not progress, but a lack of character.

It is precisely this insight that has forced a number of automotive giants to put on the brakes and reconsider their ambitious plans to completely abandon the internal combustion engine. It turns out that die-hard enthusiasts don’t buy supercars simply for status, but for the primal rumble and mechanical symphony that only pistons can play. This emotional thread is the “holy grail” of the industry, and its interruption threatens to leave brands without their most loyal audience.

Lamborghini’s management has candidly admitted something that many have long whispered: electric cars simply cannot generate that specific, almost intimate connection between man and machine. This camp of skeptics has been joined by strategists at Porsche and Maserati, who have realized that in the pursuit of zero emissions, they may lose the soul of their models. It turns out that the acceleration figures from 0 to 100 km/h are meaningless if the thrill that makes you shiver behind the wheel is missing.

Despite this wave of sobering up, Maranello is still keeping the fire of innovation alive, albeit in its own way. Ferrari is preparing for a historic debut in May, when the world is to see its first all-electric model. This is a bold gamble with which the brand with the “dark horse” will try to prove that the future can be exciting and without the smell of gasoline. However, whether the fans will accept this change or consider it a heresy, we will soon find out.

We are currently witnessing a kind of dialogue between the deaf - manufacturers are chasing environmental standards, while fans are dreaming of the past. Perhaps the golden mean lies in the hybrid technologies that already dominate the tracks. They offer the best of both worlds: the brutal power of electricity and the unadulterated voice of a traditional engine. This technological compromise seems like the only lifeboat that can keep emotion alive in an increasingly sterile era.
