Fiat Giga Panda is coming - 1

The Italian giant Fiat is preparing a large-scale offensive that promises to re-enter the compact car segment. This fall, Paris will become the arena for a long-awaited comeback, as the brand plans to bring out the “heavy artillery“ in the form of three new premieres. The spotlight will be on the production versions of the new Giga Panda family, accompanied by the stylish Lancia Gamma crossover and another mysterious concept that remains a closely guarded secret for now.

In fact, we are witnessing a strategic reboot. After the Grande Panda won the ovation, the Italians decided to raise the stakes, creating larger and more practical machines aimed directly at the needs of the modern family. The big news on the stand will undoubtedly be the Fiat Giga Panda – crossover, which will appear in two radically different incarnations: a classic SUV and a far more dynamic Fastback.

The design of the new additions almost verbatim quotes the bold concepts of last year. The front relies on futuristic “pixel“ lighting, combined with a closed and illuminated grille, which unambiguously hints at the electric heart of the car. While the standard SUV relies on vertical lines and maximum volume, the Fastback version attracts the eye with its sloping roof in the style of the Citroen Basalt, putting aesthetics at the forefront.

The technological basis of both models is the flexible Stellantis Smart Car architecture – the same platform that we already know from the new Opel Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross. It is a real “Swiss army knife“, allowing the installation of everything: from traditional gasoline engines and mild hybrids to fully electric drives. This gives Fiat incredible freedom to tailor models to the specific requirements of each individual market.

While Fiat focuses on the mass consumer, Lancia is boldly looking towards the premium niche with the new Gamma. This elegant fastback crossover will ride on the STLA Medium platform and will offer a wide range of powertrains, including plug-in hybrids and all-electric variants. Production will be positioned at the Melfi plant, side by side with the DS No. 8, which in itself is a statement of high quality and luxury.

As for Fiat's third premiere, it remains shrouded in mist. The manufacturer describes it as an “exclusive concept“, hinting at a completely new direction of development that is yet to excite the automotive world.
