The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) continues its research into the economy of modern cars. Now, the fuel consumption of the cars has been checked again in real conditions. .

This time, 21 cars from different classes passed the test - from compact city hatchbacks to large frame pickups. They were tested over a distance of 93 km in the city of Geelong and its surroundings according to the WLTP standards that are in force in the European Union.

The test results are quite interesting. Yes, the real fuel consumption of most cars is higher than the passport one, but some models confirmed the official data, and others even turned out to be more economical than their manufacturers claimed.

In particular, the real fuel consumption of the Volkswagen Tiguan is 13% lower than the passport, and the Kia Cerato - by 10%. But the Suzuki Swift, on the contrary, turned out to be "gluttonous", as in the test it consumed as much as 31% more gasoline than declared.

In absolute numbers, the Toyota Corolla hybrid turns out to be the most economical - 4=2 l/100 km. Biggest "appetite" there is the Toyota Hilux gasoline pickup truck - 10=9 liters per 100 km.
