The development of the affordable electric car Volkswagen ID.2all is fully completed. The German automaker is preparing to show the new product before the end of the year, guaranteeing it is "even better" from the concept.
The new vehicle is known to be based on a modified version of the MEB platform and has a range of up to 450 km on a single charge. CEO Thomas Schafer said the new electric vehicle shows the direction the company wants to take.
The new ID.2all from Volkswagen is expected to cost from 25 thousand euros. In addition, after bringing back former Bentley and Audi designer Andreas Mind last year, with this model the automaker aims to refresh the design of the next generation of electric vehicles.
After completing the design of the new EV, Mind said the production version is "even better" from the concept. “I really like it, and that is one of the reasons I am so optimistic about our future,” Mind added.
The head of design added that the new car will be unique from the start. According to Mind, the interior of the base electric car has a “new design language” with elements that reflect the past.
One of the most interesting features is the different driving modes that give a "flash of the past" with classic or vintage modes. The Classic comes from the Beetle era, while the Vintage features a Golf-like display.
The new all-electric Volkswagen ID.2 worth €25,000 will be one of ten new electric cars that the automaker will bring to market by 2027. It will join ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, ID.7 and ID.Buzz.
