Ford's Electric Vehicle Innovation Center to Build...Powerful Cars with Internal Combustion Engines - 1

Canada's Ford Electric Vehicle Innovation Center will switch to production Super Duty x DVZ pickup trucks. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026. It is noted that the plant will be able to produce up to 100,000 cars per year.

Initially, the plant was planned to produce a wide range of electric cars, but now the management has decided to redirect the activities of the enterprise. The reason is the pace of sales of electric cars in the world, which continue to fall.

Last year, Ford announced plans to make Oakville Assembly the "Canadian center for electric vehicle manufacturing". The production of electric cars of a new generation was supposed to start in 2025. But now it's being reported that Ford will build the massive F-Series Super Duty pickups with powerful diesel engines.

Ford also says the move will save about 1,800 jobs and allow the company to increase "production of one of the brand's most popular and most profitable vehicles".

Ford CEO Jim Farley said that even with plants in the U.S., the company can't keep up with demand for Super Duty pickups. The company will also add approximately 150 jobs at the Windsor Engine Complex to handle increased production of CNG pickup trucks.

However, the company said it remains “committed to developing a growing and profitable electric vehicle business”. But words are one thing, deeds are quite another. Apparently Ford, like many other car manufacturers, is quietly turning the tables.
