The model is equipped with a two-liter four-cylinder turbo engine EA888 evo5, developing a power of 268 hp and 350 Nm of torque. That's 67 horsepower more than the standard 201 hp version, making this new model the most powerful in the Tiguan range and even surpassing the Golf GTI, which has 241 hp.
To achieve this increase in power, Volkswagen engineers increased the size of the turbine, reinforced the pistons and connecting rods, and integrated a new variable valve lift system.
In the top-of-the-line SEL R-Line trim level, the crossover offers 4Motion all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting using steering wheel paddles.
Despite the sporty characteristics, the suspension and brakes remain the same, which indicates the family orientation of the car. Externally, the model stands out with a black roof, 20-inch wheels and illuminated logos on the front and rear.
The Tiguan Turbo's interior features Varenna leather seats with massage and ventilation functions, a 15-inch touchscreen for multimedia, a Harman Kardon audio system and American walnut trim.
The equipment also includes three-zone climate control, a head-up display and heated rear seats. The new Volkswagen Tiguan Turbo is scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2025 and is expected to cost around 42,000 euros.
