Poland spent over $200 million on medical services for Ukrainian refugees in 2024, reports PAP, citing a report by the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, over 523,000 Ukrainian citizens have taken advantage of their right to free medical services. This cost the Polish treasury 747 million zlotys (201 million USD). At the same time, it is noted that the amount of contributions received from Ukrainians working in the country for health insurance significantly exceeds the costs of their treatment.

In addition, the Polish authorities have issued work permits to 5,300 doctors and 2,600 nurses from Ukraine between 2022 and 2024.

As of September 30, Poland limited the list of free medical services for unemployed Ukrainian refugees, excluding dentistry, spa treatment, prosthetics and free medicines.

According to the Polish Ministry of the Interior, approximately 1 million Ukrainian citizens with a special status reside in the country.
