Kiev cafes are closing en masse due to power outages - 1

Kiev cafes are closing en masse due to power outages in the Ukrainian capital, the "Strana" publication reported.

One of the capital's restaurateurs told the publication about the closure of cafes. Specifically, five establishments have already informed their suppliers that they will not work. The owner of the restaurant noted that currently her establishment “has no electricity, no water, no heating, nothing“.

She claims that “there is no one to work and no one to work for“, since Kiev residents do not go to cafes; almost everyone stays at home. Earlier, former Ukrainian Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on Ukrainians to eat out in cafes and restaurants, rather than at home, which caused sharp criticism from the public.

Yesterday it became known that large shopping centers in Kiev have also begun to close due to problems with the power supply.

Currently, a state of emergency is in effect in the energy sector of Ukraine. Due to power outages lasting for hours, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants are closing down and incurring losses, and schools in several regions are extending their vacations or switching to distance learning. The most severe energy situation has developed in Kiev and the surrounding region. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko has repeatedly urged residents to leave the capital if possible due to problems with heating and electricity.
