Two container ships belonging to the Chinese company COSCO Shipping Lines failed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and returned to the Persian Gulf, the ship tracking system MarineTraffic reported.
“Two ultra-large container ships, the CSCL Indian Ocean and the CSCL Arctic Ocean, attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz but turned back at approximately 03:20 and 03:50 UTC. This is the first attempt by large container ships to pass through the strait since the conflict began“, the service reported.
On March 25, COSCO Shipping Lines resumed bookings for container ships on routes between the Far East and the Middle East. These reservations apply to shipping routes linked to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Iraq.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the Islamic Republic had allowed ships belonging to countries it considers friendly to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
